Challenge Your Feet! Set Your Piggies Free!
Summer is the perfect season to question the way the rubber meets the road. Or, where the skin comfortably meets the soil.
As long as we’re in shoes, feet continue on- reliant (sometimes painfully reliant) upon arch support, motion control, toe spring, cushioning, laces, ties and straps. These are common shoe features, without which, our feet would have to be responsible for these things on their own! Watch for my upcoming article: Breaking Ties That Bind.
YOUR FEET ARE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THEMSELVES! Making the transition to comfortable, powerful and supportive feet, of course begins with baby steps! Baby steps feeling carefully into the world and contact with ground.
Simply challenge yourself to try some of your normal activities barefoot! Walking to the end of the drive to get the paper?
Try it barefoot! Walking in your garden? Barefoot! Think of it as strengthening for your feet, and it will be!
Here’s the simple meditation that can set you free: Pay attention to every moment when you notice your feet feel better than your mind anticipated they would. That’s it, it’s that simple. Take your shoes off and experiment with this meditation Don’t do too much too soon - if you add one step more per day without shoes, you are making progress!
