Soaked Oats…Who knew?
Yumminess…all in a mason jar left overnight! During my weekend of non-stop nutrition therapy class my brain was overloaded with new ideas, concepts and recipes to try. One that I rushed home to try was soak oats. Did you know it’s more healthful to soak your oats overnight? When you soak the oats it breaks down the starches which in return helps you to digest them easier and more slowly. This allows you to absorb nutrients easier and keeps you burning the fuel (oats) longer which in return keeps you feeling full longer. As I am learning, digestion is one of the key foundations of the body. When digestion is in dysfunction then our whole body is not at its true potential.
My son and I now have made it a ritual to put together our soaked oats before bed for a yummy morning breakfast.
Here’s my Soaked Oats Recipe:
1/2 C Organic Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 C. unsweetened Almond, Coconut or Whole milk (any works)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp maple syrup
1 TBS chia seeds
Add Blueberries, raspberries
Mix and put in fridge overnight
In the morning heat up and enjoy! Add a little more maple syrup if needed.
Enjoy!!!
