To befriend gravity: Think like a tree.
Rooted Movement is a fun, client engaging art, created from 20+ years experience in the healing and martial arts.
Using hands on techniques that engage myofascial anatomy, coupled with mind-body engagement informed by the healing perspectives of both Shamanism and Reiki, Rooted Movement helps clients become aware of and shift their relationship to their painful experiences that may come from habits of posture, movement, compensation and expressions of force.
Habits work until they don’t. What then? It’s a simple choice, toward or away? Associate or dissociate? Through association and exploration, Rooted Movement offers an effective and efficient way for a body’s owner-operator to inquire what painful experiences might be up to, and if they need to keep doing things that way.
Martial Arts perspective and body reading skills underpin Rooted Movement through creating awareness to explore how one stabilizes one’s center to support movement and expression of force in gravity.Like a tree, supporting and coordinating a canopy requires an effective root system. All movement patterns, postural patterns and compensation/holding patterns must have a taproot into our habits of connecting our frame to ground reaction forces (How the earth pushes back on us in an equal and opposite way to how we push on it). A bit of release and slack can be found for any tension by inviting length and space in the taproot relationship.
